Welcome to Rosie McGurran’s website where you will find examples of past and present work. She is interested in drawing as a foundation stone of her painting practice. Her work flows in many different directions which all inform each other and often makes reference to her familiar surroundings in the village of Roundstone in Connemara.
Roundstone has long been a popular destination for many Irish and international painters.
. A line of artists can be traced back as far as the late 19th century. Rosie McGurran was attracted to Roundstone not only by its inherent natural beauty but also by the cultural richness of the area. Paul Henry, Jack B Yeats, Gerard Dillon, Laetitia Hamilton, Arthur Armstrong, Nano Reid, George Campbell, James MacIntyre, Cecil Maguire and Ithell Colqhoun have all spent time working in Roundstone. Rosie McGurran shares values with all these artists and also has researched their work extensively. She provides an illustrated art walk around the village during summer months.
